Bode George |
The Lagos State chapter
of the All Progressives Congress has berated a former National Deputy Chairman
of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, for asking President
Muhammadu Buhari to probe the last two governors of Lagos: Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
and Babatunde Fashola (SAN).
The Publicity Secretary
of the APC in Lagos, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, in a statement on Thursday, said George
was still suffering from the double defeat his party sustained at the national
and state levels.
Igbokwe said George did not have the moral right to claim “holier than thou.”
Igbokwe said George did not have the moral right to claim “holier than thou.”
He said:
“The APC in Lagos has
asked Chief Bode George to keep quiet for now and continue to nurse the wounds inflicted on him by the colossal defeat his
party suffered at both the national and the state levels in the just concluded
elections.
“Chief George, like the
Lagos PDP Chairman, Tunji Shelle, has just woken up from a chronic
hallucination after suffering a choking and devastating defeat in the hands of
the APC.
Bode George has yet to
come to terms with the fact that it is all over for the PDP in Nigeria and
Lagos. He has yet to believe that the Lagos APC has forcefully retired him from
active politics forever in Nigeria and Lagos State.”
Igbokwe said it was
hypocritical of George to call Tinubu and Fashola corrupt and yet campaign for
a corrupt party like the PDP. He said George caused the defeat of the PDP when
he imposed Jimi Agbaje on the party. The statement added:
“Why is Bode
George finding it difficult to believe that the game is over for him in
Nigerian politics, and in the politics of Lagos State? Who will tell Bode
George that nobody takes him seriously again in matters of Nigerian politics?
Who will persuade Chief Bode George to quit politics now in his own
interest?
How can we forget that
Chief George imposed Jimi Agbaje on Lagos PDP and caused a big crisis at
Oregun, Lagos where the party conducted its primary? How can we forget that it
was this same Bode George that initiated the political brigandage and ethnic
politics we saw in Lagos that nearly caused xenophobic attacks?”
