Olamide and Phyno battle Cassper Nyovest for Best African rapper again

Few weeks after Cassper Nyovest was named the MAMA Best Hip Hop act in Africa, the South African rapper is set to once again go head to head against Nigerian rappers, Olamide and Phyno whom he defeated at the July 18 event in South Africa. At the forthcoming African Muzik Magazine Award, Cassper, Phyno and Olamide, as well as Chocolate City CEO; MI Abaga, Sarkodie, AKA, NGA and Octopizzo from Kenya, would
battle for best rapper gong. Cassper who has released just an album in his musical career would be looking forward to winning his 21st award. Olamide has however, had an impressive period in the past one year. From releasing his Street OT album in November 2014 to several other singles which makes him one of the buzzing acts on the continent, the YBNL boss also stands a good chance in the category. Phyno on the other hand cannot also be ignored as one of the favorites in this category. The Igbo influenced rapper has also put in a great deal of effort this year. For Sarkodie, he is arguably the biggest act from Ghana at the moment. Despite losing the BET Best International Act award to compatriot, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie who won the BET award in 2012 has also worked hard enough and performed at major gigs to deserve the award. Nigerian rap act and recently named Chocolate City CEO, MI Abaga might however pull a surprise on everyone. The Short black boy who released his much anticipated 3rd studio album, Chairman in October 2014 has also made a commendable return in the past one year. South Africa’s AKA won the Best Collaboration at the 2015 MAMA for his effort on ‘All eyes on me’ which featured Burna Boy, Jr and DA LES. The rapper cannot also be underrated in this category. For Angola’s NGA and Octopizzo from Kenya, their AFRIMMA nominations have shown they  are equally in contention. AFRIMMA comes up on Saturday October 10, 2015.
