Rihanna's recent perfume launch was targeted by
anti-fur protesters who could be heard chanting "shame on Rihanna".
The Bajan-born singer
was at Macy's in Brooklyn, New York, for
the unveiling of her new fragrance on Monday, but it was soon interrupted by a
group of angry activisits.
As Rihanna introduced the scent to a crowd of fans, the
activists burst in and waved placards before yelling at the star.
The
footage, filmed by Their Turn, shows
protesters chanting: "Shame on Rihanna! Shame on Rihanna! Fifty dead
animals - one fur coat."
The video, which can also be found here, then shows the singer's
security team stepping in to the remove the protesters from the building.
It's not the first time Rihanna has come under fire from animal
activists. In 2012 PETA criticised the star for wearing snake-skin boots.
A spokesperson said at the time: "Rihanna may not have a
clue that snakes killed for boots are often nailed to a tree and skinned alive.
Of course, they can't go on Oprah to cry about it."
"Wearing reptile skin is creepy and callous, and it makes
her look even more out of touch.
"She and Lady Gaga seem so desperate to be freaks instead
of recognized for their talents that you have to wonder if they realize that
they are being laughed at."
We have contacted a rep for Rihanna for comment.
